So I have been pretty good friends with a certain friend of mine. We’ve been friends for a couple years but have grown closer over the last year and a half. Anyways, I have a boyfriend and child so when I say we’ve grown closer I mean become better friends. Anyways, my friend starting dating this guy a few months ago and as with all new relationships I stopped seeing her as much. Usually we would hang out twice a week and now I haven’t seen her in about 2 and half weeks. Anyways, not to long ago she told me that she was pregnant. I only saw her once after that (about a week later) but now she won’t even talk to me. She keeps saying that she’s been really busy (she works about 45 hours a week. The problem is is that she always worked that much and at least had time to call me. And when she would tell me that she’s been really busy it would be through a text message. I have tried calling her and she won’t return my calls. I don’t understand what is going on. I feel like she’s avoiding me. I have a 16 month old son and I am not one of those mothers that will sugar code anything when it comes to parenting. I have been very honest with her about how hard parenting will be but at the same time I am still showing her my support about her being pregnant. I don’t know if she is avoiding me cause she had a miscarriage or because she doesn’t want to be my friend anymore? Or maybe she is just really busy, but she’s always been this busy. I was pregnant and I still managed to return people’s phone calls and talk to them at least for 5 minutes. Can anyone please help? What do you think is going on?
Answer
She might not necessarily be more busy but more overwhelmed with everything that’s changing in her life. Even being this busy, everyone has enough time in their lives to at least talk to their friends. She maybe having a tougher time handling her pregnancy than you appeared to have and she might be a little embarrassed. Either way, if you guys are as good of friends as you made it sound she will come around when things settle down, hopefully sooner rather than later.
